RETIRAL After 28 years as Headteacher of Dalmarnock Primary School, I have decided to retire at the end of this term. I would like to thank staff, parents and children – present and past for their support PARENTAL SURVEY – Thanks to all parents who took the time to complete and return our surveys. 98% of returns were very happy with our school, 2% had concerns for their own children and the school will address these issues individually. Next year communication will further improve with the setting up of Parent Councils in schools. Looking for ideas for healthy packed lunches? Like some health promotion information? then look no further ! – On the 6th June we are having a Health Promotion Day –Watch out for more information on this event. Our new Fruit Trolley selling a selection of fruit daily at only 10p per piece of fruit is proving to be very popular with the children (and staff!). Help your child to have their ‘5 a day’ by encouraging them to have fruit at break time.

FEBRUARY HOLIDAY REMINDER School will be closed on Monday 12th, Tuesday 13th & Wednesday 14th February for Mid Term Holiday and I.S.T. Day. School will restart at 9.00 am on Thursday 15th February. NEW BUILDING We are awaiting official word on our entry date, but it now looks likely that it will be nearer the end of February. Parents please note that every child will require to wear soft shoes(black slip on gym shoes are best) in our new school. These shoes will be kept in shoe boxes beside each classroom and only worn inside the school. Class Visits P7’s Eastbank Academy 16th, 18th Jan. CHRISTMAS SCHOOL HOLIDAYS School will close at 2.30 pm on Friday 22nd December and resume at 9.00 am on Monday 8th January. All the staff would like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year – Happy Holidays ! WHAT’S ON IN DECEMBER 5th Dec The whole school entertained by the visiting theatre group Hopscotch’s Pantomime “Hansel & Gretel”. 12th Dec Our Christmas Fair (see more details over) 14th Dec School Christmas Lunch in the Dinner Hall (usual lunch time) 14th Dec 7 pm P6’s & P7’s Christmas Dance. 13th Dec 1.30 pm P4’s & P5’s Christmas Ceilidh. 20th Dec Christmas Service 2.00 pm in Bridgeton St. Francis-in-the-East, all welcome. 21st Dec 1.30 pm P1,2,3’s Christmas Party. All parties/dance once again this year are free to the children thanks to the generous donation from Cash For Kids. SENSE OVER SECTARIANISM Our P6 class is enjoying using the Education Suite at Celtic Park every week. Dalmarnock Primary and St. Michaels Primary are working on a joint project. The 2 schools were present at the Media Launch of the new children’s healthy menu in the Jock Stein Restaurant and were treated to a healthy lunch. On Tuesday 5th Dec our First Minister Jack McConnel visited the Education Suite and met Miss McLeod and pupils from Primary 6. This Christmas time we have a long term member of staff retiring. Mrs McIntosh our P7A teacher who has given many years of teaching to Dalmarnock Primary is leaving us. We wish her well and a long and happy retirement

DALMARNOCK PRIMARY AUGUST 05 NEWS Welcome back to a new year in Dalmarnock Primary, and a special welcome to all our new P1’s who are with us mornings ony at the moment. This year we will face many challenges as we try to improve our National Testing results and increase our Attendance levels. I am sure you all will co-operate to help us achieve these targets, and hopefully some time in the new year we may see some building work starting on our new school!
As usual I start off the new term with a few reminders to parents:- UNIFORM – Our pupil council have introduced a reward scheme this year - if a child wears the standard uniform (Royal Blue Sweatshirt/and or PoloShirt) every day they will receive a raffle ticket on a Friday and they could be a winner from their class of the Gold Tuck Shop Voucher. 2 Winners per class per week.
TUCK – Maximum of 65p to be spent at the tuck shop. Our tuck shop prices are - juice 20p, packet of crisps 30p, small chocolate bar 10p. We will now allow children to bring into school for tuck, plastic bottles of WATER ONLY – NO FIZZY JUICE- if you give your child a bottle/can of fizzy juice they will not be allowed to take this into the playground.

PARENT’S SURGERY - This again will run alternate weeks in the Main Building and Annexe. Not many parents made use of this last year and I would urge you to drop in between 2pm – 2.45pm on a Monday if you have any issues regarding the school or your child’s education that you would like to raise with a member of our Senior Management Team. Main Building Mon Sept 5th, Annexe Sept 12th.
BREAKFAST CLUB – Open from 8.15am – 8.40am. Encourage your child to come along and start the day with a FREE healthy breakfast.

PARENTS INFORMATION MEETING – NEW BUILDING Mr. Ian McDonald is willing to come to the school one evening/afternoon in September to show you Design drawings/plans and explain these to you. If interested please phone our office and leave your name, stating if you would prefer an afternoon or evening. The building work is due to commence January 06 and be completed by January 07.
BT AWARD – Our Webmaster, Will MacArthur applied for this on our behalf and the school will be awarded a BT Certificate and £150.

our School Exhibition will be open to the general public on the afternoons of Wed and Thursday 15th and 16th June 2005 only from 1.30 -3PM in case anyone missed it in October .
Friday 17th June AM is open to Former pupils travelling to Glasgow for the Civic Reception and is by appointment only.
Tours of the school with pupil guides will again be on offer as they were such a success last time.
